The Awards Committee is currently seeking additional members.
The Awards Committee administers ACEC/MA’s annual Engineering Excellence Awards program and is in charge of other ACEC/MA awards. The EEA program recognizes engineering firms for projects that demonstrate a high degree of achievement, value and ingenuity. Entrants are rated by an independent panel of judges from the architectural community, the construction industry, academia, the media, and the public sector on the basis of uniqueness and originality; future value to the profession and perception by the public; social, economic and sustainable development considerations; complexity; and successful fulfillment of the client/owner’s need, including schedule and budget. The EEA Committee plans, coordinates, and administers the annual Call for Entries and the judging process. The EEA Committee assists the EEA Event Committee in planning the annual Awards Gala. In addition, the EEA Committee coordinates the EEA Road Show that displays winning projects in prominent locations throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts following the Awards Gala.
The EEA Committee is comprised of volunteer representatives from ACEC/MA member firms. The committee is led by two co-chairs that set the agenda and facilitate committee meetings. The co-chairs are selected annually from among the committee membership.
The Awards Committee meets monthly from August through March usually on Zoom or Teams. The standing meeting day of the month and time is established by mutual consent of the participating members at the first meeting of each year. Additional meetings are held at the call of the Chair if required. In addition to the standing monthly meeting, the Awards committee holds two virtual briefing sessions about the state Engineering Excellence Awards competition, a briefing session for the competition's judges and a separate virtual session for the Finalists’ Oral Presentations between mid October and early December. Representatives from the EEA Committee meet as needed with the EEA Event Committee to plan the annual Awards Gala. Committee meetings are listed on the ACEC/MA calendar.
