About Commonwealth Corporation Workforce Training Fund Express Grants 

NOTE: This page is in the process of being updated as of 12/10/24 for the 2025 ACEC/MA Emerging Leaders Program that Starts on  March 5, 2025. It is not yet fully updated.

Apply for a Massachusetts Workforce Training Grant  at least 21 business days (2/3/2025) before the first session begins for your Massachusetts-based employee(s). Eligible* firms may receive a reimbursement of up to $2500 per employee completing this course.

Notice as of July 10, 2023: Employers with over 100 Massachusetts employees will no longer be eligible to receive Express Program grants and will be encouraged to submit General Program applications. See this site for more information. 

Notice as of November 1, 2024:  Eligible Firms: Employers with up to 50 Massachusetts employees are eligible for 100% reimbursement. Employers with 51 to 100 Massachusetts employees are eligible for 50% reimbursement for these courses. 
 

This is a Reimbursement program: 

1. Firms must register and pay tuition for their participants in the Emerging Leaders Program with ACEC/MA first, get a receipt for payment from ACEC/MA, and then may apply for Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund Express Grants for two of ACEC/MA's Leadership Education Programs, Emerging Leaders and Odyssey Leadership.

2. An Employer must submit an online application to the Express Grants program at least 21 business days in advance of the desired training start date.  See below for links and directions.

Directions

For the Emerging Leaders Program, Class of 2025:

  • Register and pay tuition for your staff to ACEC/MA and get a copy of receipt that reflects the payment for the course first. 
  • Go to the Commonwealth Corporation Workforce Training Fund Express Grant page here: https://commcorp.org/subprogram/wtfp-express-program/
  • Then follow instructions under For Applicants and see what you need to submit from the page. You will need to scroll down on the page.
  • Using the Express Course Directory, Search on: Emerging Leaders or The Engineering Center Education Trust or  ID #C-0451 (to be confirmed). This is required for the online application. 
  • Note, the rate listed on the Workforce Training Fund site may be the Non-member rate. Any employee of an ACEC/MA Member Firm is eligible to attend at the ACEC/MA Member Rate, so please use the correct rate when applying for the grant.

The Express Program provides employers fast, simple access to grant-funded training, helping businesses in Massachusetts respond to emerging needs.

Ready to apply? Please gather the following required materials:

  • Your organization's Legal Name (and d.b.a. if applicable)
  • Your organization's Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN)
  • A signed copy of your business's Form W-9 verifying your full legal business name and FEIN.
  • Course ID from the Express Directory for all courses (the ID starts with a "C-" followed by 4 or 5 numerical digits).
  • Current number of Massachusetts employees in your organization (full-time & part-time)
  • Contact info of an individual in your organization authorized to sign a contract to accept a grant
  • Training start date for all courses (the earliest training start date must start on or after the indicated contract start date in the application, and training should start within 6 months of the contract start date).

This application should take between 15-30 minutes to complete.  

  • Plan to complete the application in one sitting. You will not be able to save and return to the application once you begin.
  • You are limited to one application per day, unless you plan on applying for more than ten groups/courses.

For the Odyssey Leadership Program, Class of 2025:

ACEC/MA members only pay the ACEC/MA member rate for registration. Check the ACEC/MA Member Directory to see if your firm is an ACEC/MA member. If your firm is an ACEC/MA member, you are a member.
