MassDOT has received concurrence from FHWA to extend technician and inspector certifications until the 2021-2022 training cycle for contractors and consultants working on MassDOT projects. MassDOT had requested this extension due to the impacts of COVID-19 on conducting in-person training.
From FHWA "The FHWA understand the challenges associated with managing and conducting in-person training and testing during a pandemic (COVID 19). We agree with MassDOT’s plan to allow the certifications that are expiring to be extended until the next training cycle when online training is developed and available to contractor and consultant staffs."
