[September 23, 2024, Milton, MA]: Today, the Engineering and Public Works Roadshow stopped at the East Milton Square Reconstruction project to celebrate its transformational impact on the community.
The East Milton Square project was chosen as a stop on the national tour for the improved traffic safety and efficiency it provides. The project utilized an innovative design of signals, sidewalks, accessible ramps, roadway, utilities, foundations, greenspace, and plantings on the bridge deck over I-93.
“Great engineering and public works often go unseen if they’re working smoothly,” said Dawn Connelly, ACEC/MA President. “We are here today to shine a spotlight on the engineering we interact with every day that improves our lives in ways both big and small.”
The Engineering and Public Works Roadshow is a nationwide effort from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), the American Public Works Association (APWA), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) to celebrate successful infrastructure investment projects.
The Roadshow also seeks to grow awareness about jobs in the engineering and public works industry.
“If you want to improve your community, become an engineer,” continued Connelly. “We tell students thinking about an impactful career that you belong in engineering.”
In addition to being selected as a Roadshow stop, the East Milton Square Reconstruction Project won an ACEC/MA Engineering Excellence Gold Award in 2024, one of the top awards the association bestows on an engineering project.
Speakers at the event include Town of Milton and State officials, including MassDOT leaders, as well as a representative of Howard Stein Hudson, the engineering firm that designed the project.
