Two external awards will be presented at this year's Transportation Innovation Conference for MassDOT's Inaugural Municipal Awards Program. The awards will be chosen among the following project categories:
• Municipality
• Consultant
The Municipal Award Program is open to communities and consultant/contractor teams. Submissions under each category will be judged on how well a project incorporates MassDOT’s core values of safety, reliability, accessibility, sustainability, and equity.
Safety: Provides improvements that all users of the transportation system can be safe and feel safe.
Reliability: Improves system dependability so users will know how long it will take them to get where they need to go.
Accessibility: Provides residents with good options for getting to important destinations, including the ability to commute from where they live to where they work in reasonable time.
Sustainability and Resiliency: Promotes Commonwealth’s goal of “net zero” greenhouse gas emissions by reducing transportation sector carbon emissions and improving climate resiliency.
Equity: Supports the transportation network so that it works for everyone throughout the state, for residents of cities and of rural communities, workers who can stay home or shift their travel time and those who cannot, and travelers who would like to use transit or share a ride and those who need to drive.
Consideration will also be given to how the project employs an innovative application of best practices or evolving new technical solutions; and how the project provides a future benefit to the Commonwealth’s other communities as they address their own transportation challenges or to the industry as a whole.
Please use the link below to submit a project. Deadline for submitting a project is Tuesday, May 3 at 5:00pm.
