Standard Specifications: On February 5, 2020, MassDOT announced the release of the 2020 Edition of the MassDOT Highway Division Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges. This edition supersedes and replaces all previous editions of the Standard Specifications, including the 1988 Standard Specifications (English), the 1995 Standard Specifications (Metric), the April 2019 Supplemental Specifications and the September 30, 2019 Interim Supplemental Specifications.
MassDOT will reference the 2020 Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges in all contract documents for all projects advertised on or after February 1, 2020.
MassDOT will not print or distribute copies of this publication. It is available to the public in electronic format (.pdf) on the MassDOT Construction Specifications page on mass.gov. It is also available to MassDOT personnel on TransNET.

MassDOT Updates Standard Workbooks to reflect changes initiated under Engineering Directive E-20-001, and other minor changes that needed to be made. Primarily, MassDOT updated the PDDG Checklist and Submission Distribution Workbook found here https://www.mass.gov/lists/massdot-highway-project-development-tools and the Standardized Scope of Services and Workhour Estimate forms found here https://www.mass.gov/lists/massdot-highway-contract-and-invoicing-tools.
These changes are in addition to the previous release of the new Design Justification Workbook found here https://www.mass.gov/info-details/massdot-design-justification-reports.
Firms should use the current versions of these workbooks whenever possible and should check our website periodically for this reason.
