The 2021-2022 Massachusetts legislative session continues its session as of January 4, 2022, with some issues to watch:
- FY 2023 State Budget: Governor Charlie Baker is expected to release his FY2023 budget later this month. Next, the House will craft a proposal, followed by the Senate, and later a compromise version to be sent to the Governor. Follow along on our FY2023 Budget page.
- ARPA Funds: The Legislature still has $2.3B of American Rescue Plan Act dollars to allocate. The Legislature sent Governor Baker a $4B spending plan late last year that used $2.55B of the state's share of ARPA dollars.
- IIJA: Mitch Landrieu, White House Senior Advisor and Infrastructure Coordinator, sent letters to all the Governors this week asking each state to appoint its own infrastructure coordinator to lead implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). This would presumably be someone designated by the Governor who would then work with all the agencies and public authorities, legislative leaders, and other stakeholders across the sectors on the projects to be funded.
