Join us for this timely and informative course where instructors Dan Purvine and Jerry Jones will teach you the latest developments in key areas affecting A/E firm indirect cost rates. Using a practical and interactive approach, they will cover the information needed to develop a FAR-compliant indirect cost rate and meet the necessary requirements to achieve state DOT approval of that rate.
For CPAs performing indirect cost rate audits, the course will address specific areas of concern to state DOTs, and potential areas to improve effectiveness, efficiency and overall quality of the audit process. Topics to be covered will include changes in the AASHTO Audit Guide and their impact on how you develop your overhead schedule, account for costs, and design your policies and procedures.
Through examples and activities, participants will gain an understanding of acceptable practices for bonus plans, compensation, and labor internal controls. Topics will also include a discussion of current issues related to indirect cost rate audits, uncompensated overtime, and the development of home and field overhead rates. A discussion of key areas where costs are often challenged in state DOT reviews will help to prepare participants for the review process. This course will benefit A/E firms, CPA firms , and state DOT staff involved in developing, auditing or reviewing indirect cost rates.
