Engineers, land surveyors, public works professionals and other design professionals met with Massachusetts state legislators at the State House on May 22 for Engineers and Land Surveyors Day at the State House. The day was organized by The Engineering Center Education Trust in coordination with ACEC/MA, MALSCE, and the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section (BSCES). Even if you could not attend on May 22, you can still talk with your legislators about the issues, especially to ask them to support the Dig Safe Bill, which is HB2815 and SB1392.
HB2815 is currently in the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy, which held a hearing on the bill along with other bills on July 9 at 9 AM in State House Room B-2. Please reach out to your state legislators now, based on where you live/vote and ask them to support favorable action on this bill. Let them know that this is important for public safety, climate resiliency projects, your town and your professional practice.
