ACEC Research Institute QBS Study: Project Nominations Due September 25
ACEC National is conducting this study through its research arm – the ACEC Research Institute – with the University of Colorado and Georgia Tech to examine the use and benefits of Qualifications-Based Selection (QBS) at the state and local government levels. This is a follow-on to a 2009 study by the same research team which found that QBS saves money and results in high levels of project success and client satisfaction. The goal of this new endeavor is to validate and reinforce the findings from the 2009 study, and provide new metrics and tools to defend and promote QBS in our state and address challenges, particularly with local government procurement.
According to ACEC Research Institute, the response has been good so far to the request for project data to support this research initiative, and I want to thank the firms that have already responded. However, we still need additional project submissions and the research team has extended the deadline for firms to submit project data to September 25, 2020. Note: submissions are not limited to our state or to one project per firm. You are free to submit multiple projects from any your firm has completed in the United States.
Please click the online questionnaire to submit project information to support this critical endeavor, and note that all information submitted will be strictly confidential and viewed only be the research team. Below is the research team's letter with more information, as well as a copy of the questions you can review in advance of logging into the online survey.

Firms that are contracted to perform construction management on projects, land surveying firms and geotechnical firms are also all welcome to submit projects as long as they have all the project information.
Thank you for your support! If you have any questions, please let me know, and you may also contact Steve Hall, ACEC’s Senior Vice President for Advocacy or Professor Paul Chinowsky at the University of Colorado.
Thank you,
Abbie Goodman, ACEC/MA Executive Director
