On November 2, 2022, ACEC/MA Leaders met with US Representative Jim McGovern (D-MA 2nd District), at Aldrich Center at The Engineering Center in Boston. Congressman McGovern is chair of the US House Rules Committee.
ACEC/MA members and Congressman McGovern discussed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and how it is helping infrastructure projects. We also discussed the engineering and land surveying labor shortage and the need for immigration reform, including streamlining the process for H1-B visas, along with the importance of allowing businesses to fully deduct their R&D expenses in the same year in which they were incurred. Finally, we also discussed the PPP Loan/FAR Credits Clause issue that is harmful to smaller and mid-size engineering and land surveying firms. Congressman McGovern has been a champion on resolving this issue in the House.
ACEC/MA is grateful to Congressman Jim McGovern for his leadership.
