On January 8, 2025, ACEC/MA Executive Director Abbie Goodman joined with leaders from the MA Waters Works Association, UCANE, MWRA Advisory Board, Massachusetts Municipal Association, Massachusetts Coalition for Water Resources Stewardship, Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section, Metrowest 495 Partnership, and the Mass Water Environment Association to brief more than 70 legislators and staff about the State of Water Infrastructure.
ACEC/MA was pleased to participate in this legislative briefing hosted by Representative James (Jay) Livingstone on the "State of Water Infrastructure" in Massachusetts. Massachusetts Water and Wastewater utilities face an identified $36.9 billion dollar funding gap over the next twenty years (and those estimates don't include what will be needed to address #PFAS.
As the Commonwealth enters a new legislative session, we are grateful to the legislators who joined us today to hear about our current challenges. Reliable and adequate water infrastructure is critical to economic development, increased housing production, environmental protection, and our overall quality of life. Investment in water infrastructure is a shared responsibility and we look forward to working with legislators to advance legislation this session to help us address our needs. #InvestinWaterMA.
