Rob Castiglione is Staff Director of the Federal Railroad Administration’s (FRA), Human Performance Division. Rob has been with the FRA for 33 years and has held several progressively responsible positions related to railroad safety. Prior to his current position, from 2009 to 2014, Rob was Staff Director of FRA’s Technical Training Standards Division.
Rob is currently responsible for the implementation and training of all new Confidential Close Call Reporting System (C3RS) sites nationwide. Rob is also responsible for leading cross-functional teams in connection with the new Minimum Training Standards Rule, which will entail review, approval, and audits of training programs developed and implemented by railroads, railroad contractors, training organizations and learning institutions, used to qualify and train safety-related railroad employees on Federal regulations, laws, and orders.
Prior to his career with FRA, Rob worked three years for the Texas Railroad Commission and six years in the mechanical department for the Southern Pacific Railroad.
