This award recognizes an ACEC/MA member for his/her accomplishments in community service.

Community Service Award Eligibility Requirements:


ELIGIBILITY: Any member, retired member, or fellow of ACEC/MA, but not more than one recipient per year from any one Member Organization (MO). The applicant may not be currently serving on the ACEC/MA Board, nor a member of the ACEC Committee of Fellows.



A. Name of Award:  ACEC/MA Community Service Award.

B. Eligibility: Any member or fellow of ACEC/MA, but not more than one recipient per year.

C. Nominations: Nominations for this ACEC/MA award must be made by an employee of an ACEC/MA Member Firm.

D. Evaluation of Candidate:The ACEC/MA Awards Committee evaluates the nominees for the award.

E. Selection of Candidate: The majority of the Awards Committee must recommend a candidate to the ACEC/MA Board, which selects the recipient.

F. Deadline for Submitting Nomination to ACEC/MA:  June 2, 2017.

G.  Criteria for Award:

a.  The nominees shall be outstanding individuals who have been involved in community service such as board, commissions or community groups and shall have demonstrated a sustained commitment to their communities.

b.  The nominees shall be perceived by the public in their communities as leaders.

c.  The nominees may have been active in local, county or state government.

d.  The nominees shall have served to influence decision-making on issues other than professional.

e.  The nominees may demonstrate, through their civic involvement, how the quality of life in their community has been enhanced.

f.    The nominees shall have received no remuneration for professional services rendered, if any.

g.   The nominees shall be or have been a principal or manager in a member firm of ACEC for at least five (5) years.

h.   Members of the COF are not eligible to receive the award.

i.    ACEC/MA selects one award recipient each years. Nationally, only five (5) awards may be given each year.

j.    Not more than one (1) candidate per MO (state Member Organization).


H.       Presentation: The award shall be made to the recipient in person at ACEC/MA’s Annual Engineering Excellence Awards, usually held in March. ACEC/MA shall forward its selected nominee to ACEC national's Committee of Fellows for consideration.


ACEC/MA will select an ACEC/MA Community Service Award Winner and then forward the nomination to ACEC for the 2017 National Community Service Award Competition. If the nominee is selected to receive an award at the National Level, the award will be made to the recipient in person at the ACEC 2017 Fall Conference.


The ACEC/MA 2017 Community Service Award Winner will be announced and recognized at the 2018 ACEC/MA Engineering Excellence Awards Gala on March 14, 2018 at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge.
